Mixed-SKU Trial Orders for Chinese Noodles and Snacks
Plan a mixed-SKU trial order by comparing carton sizes, shelf life, loading references, packaging and the commercial purpose of each item.
A mixed-SKU trial order can help an importer test several products without committing all inventory to one item. The useful question is not simply how many SKUs can fit in a container. It is which combination gives each product a fair commercial test.
Start with a clear trial objective
Choose products for specific channels or customer groups. A noodle-focused trial could compare Egg Noodle, Dried Noodles, Shrimp Noodle and Shanghai Noodle. A broader Asian-food trial might add Egg Rolls as a snack category.
For every SKU, state the proposed sales channel, target retail price position, expected cartons and the result that would justify a repeat order.
Compare carton data before choosing quantities
The current catalog gives these packing references:
- Egg Noodle, Dried Noodles and Shrimp Noodle: 454 g per bag, 30 bags per carton, carton size 48.3 × 31.1 × 27.9 cm and 24-month shelf life.

Treat the MOQ as a planning reference
The catalog lists a typical MOQ of 100 cartons for standard products. A mixed order does not automatically mean that any number of cartons can be divided among unlimited SKUs. Final minimums depend on product, packaging, production arrangement and whether private label materials are required.
Ask the supplier to confirm the minimum for each SKU, not only the total order.
Keep the first mix commercially readable
Too many products create weak sales data. A practical first trial often uses three to five items with enough cartons per item for several customers or stores. Keep standard packaging where possible so the test focuses on product demand rather than printing investment.
Request one consolidated order sheet
The final trial sheet should show SKU, unit weight, units per carton, cartons ordered, shelf life, carton dimensions, gross weight, label language and required documents. It should also state the trade term, destination port and whether partial shipment or consolidation is permitted.
Can noodles and Egg Rolls be combined?
They can be discussed in one commercial plan, but carton dimensions, shelf life and handling should be calculated separately. Confirm the loading plan before ordering.
Should a first trial use private label packaging?
Standard packaging usually reduces variables. Private label is better considered after product fit, market requirements and realistic volume are known.
